Corruption is the price, we pay to make our cause important. I am in no position to talk or comment about corruption due to the following reasons
1. I paid 200 Rs, to the break inspector to get my 2 wheeler license, when I did not even know how to ride a bike.
2. I paid 350 Rs. to break inspector again to get my 4 wheeler license, when i could barely drive the car straight.
3. I paid 1000 Rs to a broker to get my birth certificate from Muncipal corporation, Hyderabad.
4. I have never paid the right registration charges for any of my investment properties in India.
I am sure, I am not the only one who did this, but allmost all of us, Non Reliable Indians, who always think twice as to whats there in it for us have done that atleast once in our life.
This brings the important question, Who is corrupt?, How much money do we need to take or offer, before we can call ourself corrupt?. Do we have any grades in being corrupt.
I guess NO. According to the Indian law, there is no distinction based on grades, as to if you are corrupt by 10 RS, you are less corrupt and if you are corrupt by 10 crores, you are more corrupt. Thats comparative satisfaction we get out of being corrupt. We are all CORRUPT in brain.
Who should be blamed for corruption, a POLITICIAN or an EDUCATED person. I would say EDUCATED person.
Lets closely observe the high profiled case which happenned at a film stars residence recently.
1. The star who shot his producer and his vasthu advisor was EDUCATED.
2. The Producer who was shot was EDUCATED.
3. The Vasthu expert was also EDUCATED.
4. The police officer, who booked the case was EDUCATED.
5. The doctor, who made the star act as if he was insane and moved him to hospital was EDUCATED.
6. The lawyer, who fought the case for the accused and against the accused was EDUCATED.
7. The judge who gave judgement that due to circumstantial evidences he finds the actor not guilty was also EDUCATED.
8. The press reporter who covered the case from start to end is also EDUCATED.
9. The public, who read the story with a hope was also EDUCATED.
10. The people who upon reading it for the first time said that the actor will come out of the case without a scratch was also EDUCATED.
For one accused to come out of the case, it took a lot of educated to prove him NOT GUILTY.
After working closely with Governent enterprises during my career a Account Manager in Advertising Agency, I am sure that all the Politician can do is put pressure to release some payment, but he alone cannot be the sole person involved in corruption.
For just an advertising bill for a 5x2 or 10pcc adertisement in Deccan chronicle, which costs 2100 Rupees, it has to go through the
1. Clerk in Advertisement department
2. Junior Officer in Advertisement department
3. Director in Advertisment department
4. Receiving clerk in accounting,
5. Audit clerk who measures and checks the size of advertisement based on rate card
6. Junior officer clerk who acknowledges that the Audit clerk has checked it.
7. Senior accounts officer, who signs that the bill has been checked and approves it to be sent to pay officer.
8. Payofficer, who puts it in the process, and makes it payment ready.
9. Pay officer, who has to go through the permissions of director - finance to approve the payment.
10. Pay officer pays the check.
If this much process need to happens to clear a payment, how much involvement do you think a politician has in it.
Lets face it, we have made corruption as part of our life and it has always been that way. We have started raising our kids with a wrong scare. Lets think, "When was the last time we saw a father or mother telling a kid "Dont do it, its wrong?" we have always said, "Dont do it, if your mom sees it, she will whip you" or other way.
We have all come a long way, without facing the right and wrong. We live life the way we want and this is the price we pay for what we WANT.
