Hope is not a strategy

Carrom board

People assume that Politics is close to CHESS, more unlikely carrom. Chess has a lot of strategy involved in it, which is common in politics, but politics also involves strength. If you look at the bit of strength involved and strategy involved, I would compare politics with carrom board. Most of us are aware of rules. We have white coins, and Black coins and a queen coin. We all might think there is no strategy in carroms, but there is. In simple to win, all we need to concentrate is to pocket all our coins along with queen, withoug pocketting the opponents coins. Or in complex winning stragety, we can focusand play our coins so that each coin pockets one coin and creates opportunities for the next one or two. Unlike chess, in carroms, if you are winning, you continue to play game. We need not take turns.

The state politics are complex. Imagine a carrom board with a Octogen shape and which has Yellow, Pink, Green, Black, White, Queen coins along with some vague color coins and still has only 4 pockets and each one is not just playing his opponent, but all his opponents at the same time. This is the current state of Andhra Pradesh politics.

Jagan is battling these politics and I think he is playing his game very good, infact. If we consider the opponents, he is facing -

1. Rosayya - Clean man, with no corruption charges, with ample support from High command. Known more as follower than as leader. He is still follower, with a different BOSS. Considered poor in leadership qualities. Understands his potential.
2. CBN - Remarkable player in politics, with a lot of weeknesses. Proved himself to be leader, by leading a Regional party pretty long.
3. Chiranjeevi - A movie superstar, emotional but weak leader. Has a lot of popularity, but doesnot understand the potential or how to use it. Made a lot of stratagical mistakes in the last elections. Its like a movie with a bad talk on day 1. Very hard to sustain, unless new situations arise.
4. KCR - Consistant on one issue. Good oratary skills and people management skills. Never a belivable character.
5. Soniya - has bandwidth of thinking high command and leverage with a lot of testing scenarios.
6. communists - Not sure what they need or what they want to do in politics. Always emotional, never had a good strategy to move forward. Physically challenged and needs help from outsiders.

In these scenarios, I think JAGAN is making use of what is at his disposal to his advantage. Its very difficult to consider politics in india with BELIEVABILITY. He is copying the successful strategy, his father followed and is working on it efficiently.

1. He is constantly making remarks at Rosayya government using his publication. Making sure that people understand that he has less or no control over his cabinet Ministers. "LEADERSHIP" factor.

2. He is consistantly giving promises to people that he will make sure that state government stands on the promises, his father made and will safeguard the interests of public. Here he is showing "ASSURANCE" factor.

3. He is consistantly keeping CBN at bay, by highlighting CBNs mistakes and his believability factor. He highlighted the factor that CBN gave RS ticket to Sujana chowdhary for his money etc. "WEAK OPPONENT".

4. Continuing the fight his father started with EENADU and Andhra Jyothy.

5. Stand for Samaykyandhra and continuing his fathers strategy. People may assume that this will effect him in telengana region, unfortunately, its not true. This is the reason, why TRS is hell bent on stopping his recent trip to Warangal. People understand that Jagan is just continuing what his father always said. It also makes sure that the people of Andhra and rayalseema region are happy about his stand, as he along with Lagadapati have stood for their cause.

6. Constant press statements from his aides in congress supporting him. Thereby High command always understands that he is imporant key going forward, if they would like to enjoy power in center. Congress gets a solid 33 seats in andhra pradesh alone, which is highest.

7. Standing on his statement, that he will visit every persons family, who had a loss around his fathers death. He showed that he will stand on his statement, whether high command agrees or not and has showed a clear edge among his contemparary politicians, that he stands on believability factor. He will do what he says. He does understant that there is potential danger, if he goes to warangal, but he did make an effort. Politics is a mass game, in which leaders need to be ready to take caliculated risks. These risks help in long run, and also make you "BELIEVABLE".

8. High command understands that It cannot go to next elections purely based on the leadership it is providing in state, "rosayya, V. Hanumantha rao, Kesava rao, D.srinivas etc". They are all district level leaders and doesnot hold a big stand among other districts. They are leaders based on their obedience towards high command. It needs a popular leader, who compromises and will work based on their requirements and they found a perfact match in chiranjeevi. This is trouble for Jagan.
  • Popularity is no more an advantage factor for him, if chiranjeevi is willing to support.
  • Congress may tie up with KCR in telengana, so that they will not loose in telengana but gain, based on telengana issue.
  • High command may decide on issuing a notice and expelling Jagan during the year before elections and not giving enough time for Jagan to turn around.

This puts jagan in a dicey situation and he has to plan out his strategy much in advance, if he wants to keep himself as key factor for congress in state politics.

Thats where Believability, Leadership, Assurance factors kick in. He needs to be in news and consistantly in news and for the right reasons. He is working on his strategy and is focussing on keeping up with his fathers image and continuing his fathers legacy.

Which Unfortunately TDP under the leadership of CBN could not maintain. Like I said, Hope is definately not a strategy. Hope that high command, will one day realize and call Jagan and offer leadership is foolish. He needs to fight for it and gain it. He is definatly going in right path, unlike what the newspaper readers think. He is taking good shots and also making sure that he creates enough obstacles for opponents.
